December 4, 2021

Show Notes

Boundaries are key to supporting mental wellbeing both on and offline, but what do online boundaries look like when you have a large social media platform?

This episode is the second installment of the Social Media Minds series. We’ve discussed a bit about how social media can impact mental health and in this episode Jayde sits down with Pinky Patel to discuss the importance of creating social media boundaries as an influencer. She also talks about the continuing stigma around mental health in India.

Pinky Patel gained her Tiktok fame over the course of the pandemic through making funny videos impersonating her mother. For Pinky, social media is a fun extracurricular that brings her joy outside of her career. Throughout the episode, you’ll get an inside look into what it’s really like to have 2 million followers, the boundaries she has set for the way she manages her social media including positive and negative comments, how she maintains a level of privacy and mental health, and how her experiences intersect with racism and the state of mental health in India.
